Solar thermal energy is described as a resource for hybridizing with other forms of renewable energy to produce round-the-clock electric power, heat for processes, sea water desalination, space cooling and applications in green house production of food in deserts. Algae can be cultivated in the effluent sea water for various uses such as protein for human consumption. A massive economy will be developed in the 21st century in the tropical world involving production of water, food and other useful products from renewable resources.
