Abstract :

Flame-wall interactions are scientifically challenging and are of great importance to any enclosed practical combustion process. Despite its practical relevance studying flame-wall interaction has received comparatively little attention within the scientific community. Especially experimental investigations are sparse. Following a description of current understanding, the focus is on using optical diagnostics to probe thermal, fluidic, and chemical properties of sidewall quenching.
